In 2025, Huka Lodge revealed a meticulous multi-million-dollar restoration and design renewal, led once again by acclaimed designer Virginia Fisher, honouring the soul and heritage of the lodge while introducing a contemporary sense of warmth, elegance, and modern comfort. Soft, earth-toned palettes, richly layered textures, New Zealand art and artefacts, and bespoke furnishings enhance the connection to nature and the property’s remarkable riverside setting.

Set within 17 acres of manicured gardens and parklands, just 22 accommodations- including 20x Lodge Suites, 1x two-bedroom Alan Pye Cottage and 1x four-bedroom Alex Van Heeran Cottage - offer a rare sense of tranquility and space. Each suite features a private terrace that opens to the sound of flowing water, while the two cottages provide seclusion for families or small groups, complete with private pools, fireplaces, living areas and outdoor terraces.

Dining is a hallmark of the Huka Lodge experience. Guests enjoy daily changing degustation menus, showcasing seasonal produce from New Zealand’s best growers, served in a selection of private indoor and outdoor dining locations, from riverside tables to wine-cellar settings and secluded garden pavilions.

Over a minimum two-night stay, the rate includes full country breakfast, pre-dinner drinks and canapes, gourmet 4-course dinner matched with premium wines, in-suite bar replenished daily and return Taupo Airport transfers.
